Media Accreditation procedure

The World Athletics Accreditation Registration System allows media representatives to apply for accreditation in order to cover the World Athletics Relays Guangzhou25.  The deadline for media to apply for accreditation is 11 April 2025.

In addition, World Athletics is pleased to announce the publication of the Media Accreditation Guidelines for World Athletics Series (WAS) events, effective from 2025 onwards. These guidelines, now available on the official World Athletics website, mark an important step in adapting to the evolving needs and practices of global media and independent professionals.

For Content-Creators

Content creators are defined as independent individuals whose primary work is distributed through third-party platforms such as YouTube, Podcasts, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Blogs, X (formerly Twitter), and others.

World Athletics will evaluate content creator applications based on the following criteria:

  1. Platform Presence
  2. Content Quality
  3. Relevance
Content creators must apply through the World Athletics Accreditation Portal: www.wasaccreditation.net/wascc

Note: Accreditation is not guaranteed, and World Athletics reserves the right to impose limits on content creator accreditation. All applications must be submitted in Latin characters.

For Non-Rights Holders

Non-Rights Holders can register through the World Athletics Series Broadcasters Accreditation System:
www.wasaccreditation.net/wasbas

For the first access Non-Rights Holders will need to set up an account and can then use the same credentials for all successive accesses to the system once the account has been approved and created.

NEW REGISTRATION

In order to access the system the first time, the user needs a specific Access Code.

WARNING - the registration form must be filled in using Latin characters.

After having entered the Access Code, the user will be requested to click on the "Proceed" button as if he/she never applied online for any WA event.

Once the registration procedure has been completed, the user will receive an email acknowledging that the data has been successfully received. In the same message the user will also find a reminder of his/her personal login details (first name, family name and date of birth) to be used after the first registration for all subsequent access to the system.

Completion of the registration process does not automatically guarantee accreditation.

Once the application has been examined and approved by WA (or the National Federation for the Host Country) the user will receive a confirmation by email.

In the registration form section, besides the personal data to be filled in, the user finds two additional tabs: Travel and Accommodation.

Travel and Accommodation

In this section it is possible to fill in the travel details and select the hotel. Once the process is completed your accommodation request will be sent to the accommodation department, which will contact you directly in order to finalise the booking.

The accommodation deadline is 23 April 2025. Bookings will be handed on a "first come, first served" basis.   Please note, all requests will be managed on a case-by-case basis and availability is not guaranteed. However, the accommodation team will do all they can to assist you in this process.

ACCESS / MODIFY

In order to modify personal data, or add more information, the user will be able to access the system at any time using the login details: first name, family name, date of birth and password.

Once the accreditation request is approved, all data will be locked. Any further changes will be managed only by email: mediaops@worldathletics.org
